Combine practice feedback with understanding

Connect AI-supported practice with teacher observation.

Use this lesson with the “Plan a reading-fluency practice cycle” skill builder. Allow about 40 minutes for reading and practice; provider training is additional.

1. Learn the principle

Fluency practice is one part of reading. Pair tool feedback with teacher observation and a short comprehension conversation rather than interpreting a single metric as complete understanding.

2. Study a worked example

A learner reads a passage smoothly but cannot explain its main idea. Plan meaning-focused follow-up rather than simply increasing the speed target.

3. Practice with your own example

Rehearse a passage yourself. Prepare an observation sheet with accuracy, expression, and a comprehension question. Include an offline alternative.

Produce: A practice plan and teacher observation sheet.

Review your work: Your plan combines tool feedback with comprehension checks and human observation.

4. Check your understanding

What additional evidence belongs beside a fluency score?

Reveal the explanation after you answer

An explanation of meaning and teacher observations of the reading process.

5. Extend the skill

Use two comparable practice passages and reflect on whether understanding as well as fluency changes.
